Who I help

Support that fits where you are

I work with high school students, college students, and adult learners — whether you are aiming for a stronger score, keeping pace with a demanding course, or rebuilding math from the ground up.

Course Support

Ongoing or short-term help with mathematics from foundational algebra through calculus, statistics, and advanced college-level courses.

Test Preparation

Math preparation is available for the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, GED, and TSI/TSIA2, along with other standardized and college placement exams.

Foundations & Confidence

Help identifying mathematical gaps, rebuilding foundational skills, and developing greater clarity and confidence.

How I tutor

Calm, focused, and built around one student

Every session is shaped around the person in front of me. We move at the pace the material actually requires — slowing down when something isn't landing, and moving ahead when it is.

I am especially effective with students who don't consider themselves “math people,” who have fallen behind, or who have struggled in traditional classrooms. Often the problem isn't ability. It's a gap several chapters back that never got addressed.

Find the real starting point

Before drilling the current chapter, we identify which foundations are missing — the ones quietly making everything else harder.

Slow down where it counts

Lessons slow down when necessary. Rushing through a procedure to finish a worksheet doesn't build anything that lasts.

Build understanding, not just steps

The goal is knowing why a method works, so it holds up on an exam question that looks nothing like the homework.

Keep the pressure low

A calm session is a productive one. Questions are welcome, mistakes are useful, and nobody is behind schedule.

About

Hi, I'm Joshua

I'm a professional math tutor and an experienced educator, with over a decade spent teaching high school and college-level mathematics. I hold a bachelor's degree in mathematics and have completed graduate-level coursework in mathematics and statistics.

I work with teenagers, college students, and adults — people returning to school, changing careers, or finally taking on the math requirement they've been putting off.

I'm also currently completing graduate studies in counseling. That work has sharpened how I teach: it keeps my approach patient and student-centered, and it helps me notice when frustration, not the mathematics, is what's actually in the way.

Online & in‑person

Two ways to meet

Sessions run online, or in person at a designated public meeting location in one of two areas.

Online tutoring

Personalized, interactive online tutoring is available for students anywhere.

  • Same individualized approach as meeting in person
  • Convenient for busy schedules and adult learners
  • Works well for ongoing course support and test prep

In-person tutoring

In-person lessons are held at designated public meeting locations in Houston’s Inner Loop and The Woodlands.

  • Students travel to the designated public meeting location
  • Sessions are not held in private homes, and I don’t travel to locations chosen by the student
  • Availability differs between the two areas

Availability varies by meeting area. Let me know which area works best for you and I'll tell you what's currently open.
